Seal the Deal is intended to be an informative and educational publication for ChemMasters’ network of independent manufacturer’s representatives, distributors and contractors. We don’t want to make you chemical engineers, but we do want to help you feel better informed and more comfortable discussing construction chemicals. If there are specific products or topics you would like to see addressed in a future issue, please contact John Fauth.

Solving The Paver Dilemma

Architectural pavers bring a distinctive quality to residential and commercial sidewalks, driveways and patios. But they also present unique aesthetic challenges that can leave them appearing dull and bland, or subject to discoloration from efflorescence or stains.

Pavers come in a variety of styles, and two basic manufacturing types; dry cast and wet cast. Dry cast and wet cast pavers have different internal structures, and not surprisingly they look different as well. Dry cast pavers are more porous (absorptive) and tend to have less color development, appearing somewhat dull by comparison.

The use of penetrating sealers such as silanes and siloxanes provide some freeze/thaw protection, but do nothing to improve the cosmetic appearance or stain resistance of pavers. On the other hand, solvent-based film forming sealers will darken paver appearance and enhance color development, but trap efflorescence beneath the film. Film forming sealers also appear glossy, which doesn’t appeal to everyone. In short, neither a penetrating sealer nor film forming sealer fully meets the needs of all paver owners.

Enter ChemMasters’ research and development laboratory, and now there’s a solution to the paver dilemma. Paver Enhancer was created to have unique cosmetic characteristics when used on architectural and interlocking pavers, offering more options and greater flexibility to achieve a variety of outcomes.

  • Deepens and enriches the appearance of pavers, with enhanced color development.
  • Creates a non-slip matte finish.
  • May be used prior to application of a penetrating sealer for increased weather resistance.
  • May be used with a film forming sealer to create a high gloss “wet look”.
  • Maximum breathability – will not contribute to the formation of efflorescence.
  • Resists staining from oil, grease, food and beverages.
  • Very low VOC (<100 g/L)

Paver Enhancer is a must for all your paver applications. Add it to your list of problem solvers.

Polyseal EZPaver Enhancer

Paver Enhancer enhances and enriches color development of architectual pavers, and improves stain resistance.

Polyseal EZSpallGuard WB 10

SpallGuard WB 10 is a penetrating, chemically reactive, solvent-free, silane modified siloxan emulsion designed to be a moisture and water repellant for concrete and masonry.

Polyseal EZTraz 25-A

Traz 25-A is a film forming sealer for concrete and masonry. Traz 25-A is formulated with methyl methacrylate polymers that develop high gloss and are more chemical resistant than standard acrylic sealers.
